SPAR introduces a new Italian fresh food range

SPAR is introducing a ‘bellisimo’ new Italian range into its stores across Northern Ireland, giving shoppers extra quick and easy meal solutions at value for money prices without compromising on quality.

Recently Eamon McKillop’s SPAR on the Fry’s Road, Ballymena hosted a free Italian sampling session at the store, giving local shoppers the chance to taste for themselves this great new range.

The SPAR Italian Range is a further extension of the brand’s Own Brand label and is a series of chilled, fresh pastas and sauces, pizza, garlic bread and ready-made meals including Meatball Pasta Bake, Lasagne and Tortelloni.

SPAR has added this new range to its portfolio of fresh products on the back of research that clearly demonstrated a high demand for Italian food. In fact, six in ten adults enjoy eating foreign food, with Italian cuisine coming a close second behind traditional British and Irish favourites. SPAR has produced a range of Italian meals that are quick and easy to get on to the kitchen table, a homage to the Italian way of keeping it simple.

It is no surprise that pasta has become a regular choice in Northern Ireland’s food establishments; it was eaten by 89% of adults in 2011 across the UK, with one in three agreeing that fresh pasta, as available in the SPAR Italian Range, is easier to prepare than dry pasta – an tradition upheld by Italians.

Another unsurprising figure shows that younger consumers, aged 16-24 are the most frequent consumers of pasta – a popular choice with the students of the world in its simplicity to prepare and enjoy.

However, the Italian Range does not compromise quality for convenience, SPAR stores in Northern Ireland pride themselves on the freshness of their produce, and are continuously finding ways to make fresh easily available for its customers, as Neal Kelly, Fresh Food Director said: “When developing the latest Own Brand initiative, it was important that we gave the customer exactly what they wanted, and indeed what they need.
