A police spokesman said: “Unfortunately not everyone is taking heed. On Sunday afternoon {December 5) into the early hours of Monday morning {6th}, three people were arrested for drink and drug driving offences.

“At just 4.09pm we arrested a 31-year-old man on Central Way and later charged him with dangerous driving, failing to provide a specimen, no driving licence and no insurance. At 8.37pm we arrested a 46-year-old man for possession of Class B drugs and driving whilst unfit through drink or drugs on Lake Road. He was later released on bail pending further enquiries. At 2.20am we came across a single vehicle collision at Rushmere Roundabout and arrested and later charged a 28-year-old man with driving with excess alcohol.

“It is scary that people are putting your lives at risk on the roads. Please, please be safe on the roads and do not drive whilst under the influence of drink or drugs. If you do take a chance then rest assured that we will be out there doing everything in our power to make the roads safe for everyone.”
