Police have made an appeal for information on suspected bogus callers in Cookstown.

A PSNI spokesperson said: “There was a report that two men were seen walking up the side of a house in the Drumenny Road area of Cookstown, sometime between 11am and 12pm on Friday, March 27.

“One man was described as being tall and broad wearing a yellow high visibility jacket with no writing on. “The second was small and wore a blue jacket. Both spoke with a Southern accent. They informed the householder that they were checking wires.

“Police are keen to hear from anyone who noticed anyone matching this description or saw a blue saloon car, possibly a Peugeot seen in the area at this time.”

Police are reminding the public that if they are concerned about bogus callers at their home they can use a special free phone service – Quick Check 0800 013 22 90 - to help them check if a visitor is genuine.
