Broadband boost

COOKSTOWN Sinn Fein Councillor Sean Clarke has welcomed the recent progress on the roll out of Broadband throughout rural areas in Mid Ulster.

Councillor Clarke who has been to the forefront in lobbying for more investment to improve broadband provision in rural areas said: “I have been flagging up the continued problems and disadvantages being encountered by rural businesses and residents who have no access to telephone line broadband in many rural areas.

“This combined investment of £2 million will deliver increased access to next generation broadband services by bringing fibre optic cable deeper into our rural areas, upgrading equipment across a series of “Green Boxes” and the introduction of new technology to increase broadband speeds to consumers.

“Part of the Tulnacross area has just recently been upgraded and this project is due for completion by 31st January as also is the Lissan area at the same time.
