The Retail Industry Awards, now in their 19th Year and have become firmly established as the ‘Oscars’ of the grocery industry, rewarding excellence across a raft of different categories.
The event is a unique occasion as it is the only time of year when the whole industry gets together to recognise and reward the smallest independent retailers alongside the largest supermarket groups.
Commenting on winning the award for Training Initiative of the year 2014, sponsored by the Manchester College, an extremely proud Jonathan said: “When I heard we had been shortlisted I thought that winning didn’t matter as it already felt like we had received a great commendation, however now that we have won all I can say is winning really does matter.
“I am so proud and the whole Solo team are really chuffed that their hard work has been recognised.
“It’s a massive award, great category to win and its shows what a team can really do when they all work together.”
Solo Retailing which also won the 2013 Forecourt of the Year Neighbour hood Retailer Award, was established in 2006.
