Buzzy time in New Zealand for Beekeepers' member
Vanessa Drew, a landscape designer from Ballyroney, became the youngest member of the DBA to become an in-house speaker following a talk in Dromore last year.
Having struggled to find work due to the recession, Vanessa travelled to New Zealand where she worked a number of jobs including landscape design, sheep shearing and beekeeping.

Hide AdVanessa was able to work for a professional beekeeper with thousands of colonies. During this time she grafted 120 larvae into plastic cells and 106 of them were nurtured to become queens by the nurse bees.
The DBA described the event as “invaluable” due to the “current shortage of bees in Northern Ireland.”
The meeting will be held in the Science Resource Centre, Dromore High School on Tuesday 20 April at 7.30pm. Everyone is welcome to attend, whether they are experienced beekeepers or those looking to take up the craft for the first time.
