Carrickfergus man ‘distraught’ after Paris concert massacre

A Carrickfergus man who booked the Eagles of Death Metal to play in Paris on Friday night has told of his distress after the gig turned into a massacre.

Steve Strange, of London-based X-Ray Touring, revealed how the 24 hours after the attack were the worst in his life.

“Waiting for news to come through was so traumatic,” he told the Sunday Life.

Mr Strange said he had been to see the band on several of their UK dates but had decided not to go to Paris at the weekend.

He described the band as “a great bunch”.

“If you’ve had a bad week and you go to see Eagles of Death Metal, they’ll be guaranteed to make you smile,” he said. “They’re a great bunch and for them to go through this is heartbreaking. They were just there to perform and their audience there to watch them.”

He added: “I’m absolutely distraught that this has happened.

“It is hard to see such mass destruction happening at a rock n’ roll concert where people were enjoying themselves.”
