HAGAN’S Bar raised a fantastic sum of £945, by bringing a little bit of Las Vegas to Dungannon recently with a successful Casino Night in aid of the Southern Area Hospice in loving memory of Matthew McKenna, Mullaghmore Park, Dungannon.
The evening gave a true taste of Las Vegas with roulette, black jack and Texas Hold’em, Wheel of Fortune and many more famous casino table games. A magical atmosphere was created with a balloon archway, feather table centres and casino balloons and theme carried throughout and if that was not enough their guests were entertained by a mixture of music including Jazz, swing and the old favourites and finished with a few party games and a disco.
There were fantastic prizes up for grabs for the best dressed Male & Female, donated by Matt McKenna which was a weekend for two in the Russell Court in Dublin, this was awarded to Fionnghuala Mohan, a lady who dressed classy but elegant and who acted politely and with great poise and who was given the opportunity to select her own guest to take to Dublin because she made such an effort in dressing to the theme.
The £500 prize given by Hagan’s Bar and the overall prize for the winning person with the most chips at the end of the night was Barry O’Neill from Coalisland, in which he kindly donated £300 back to the charity, thank you Barry for this very kind gesture. Furthermore, there were also plenty of amazing spot prizes up for grabs.
All proceeds raised from the event will be going to the Southern Area Hospice in loving memory of Matthew McKenna, on behalf of the family Triona Kelly thanked the hospice for their great care and attention that they provided to her grandfather throughout his illness and asked for people to support the Southern Area Hospice so that they can carry on this good work.
A speech was also made by Neville Pogue on behalf of the Southern Area Hospice who said: “The hospice offer invaluable support and care to people living around the Southern Trust area who are suffering from Cancer, Multiple Sclerosis, Motor Neurone Disease and other terminal illnesses. In order to maintain the level of care currently available they need to raise over £2.3 million this year, which is equivalent to £263 per hour, please donate any amount, as we depend on all donations given.”
“It’s was great excuse for adults to get all dressed up and to have fun in the Las Vegas way and also at the same time supporting a very worthwhile cause. Thank you.”
