Charity Commission JDLC event

The Commission, Northern Ireland’s charity regulator, has opened a consultation on its interim reporting proposals, providing an opportunity for anyone involved, or interested, in the work of charities to help shape the policy before it goes live next year.

And charities in and around Ballymoney can have their say in person at a Commission consultation event taking place at the Joey Dunlop Centre, 33 Garryduff Road, Ballymoney, from 6pm to 8.30pm on Wednesday, 13 November.

Frances McCandless, Chief Executive of the Commission, commented: “At present, charities are not required to submit annual monitoring returns or accounts and reports to the Commission for inspection.

“This will change after compulsory registration of charities begins later this year with annual reporting by charities playing an important role in the Commission’s regulation and monitoring work.

“In preparation for that, we have opened a public consultation on our draft interim reporting proposals and are taking that consultation on the road with events in Ballymoney and across Northern Ireland.”

Information on the Ballymoney event, including how to book a place and copies of all consultation documentation, is available on the Commission’s website www.charitycommissionni.org.uk The consultation will close at 4.30pm on Friday 13 December.
