Church event was a great success with the community

The day included an exhibition highlighting the ministries of the congregation. Church members were on hand to share with visitors what goes on within the church and to explain the church’s core beliefs. Afterglo followed on from their gLo week, when over 50 young people shared the love of Jesus in practical ways throughout Waringstown.

Afterglo was attended by people from the neighbourhood who enjoyed the opportunity to meet with members of the church family manning the various ministry stands. Visitors were served tea, coffee and refreshments in the huge marquee, and a barbecue in the manse garden. Children were also thrilled with the bouncy castles and slide in the church car park.

The puppet ministry team put on an excellent show with a Biblical message, enjoyed by youngsters and adults alike. The show was interspersed with traditional and contemporary Christian music presented by members of the music team supported by the sound team.

Convener of the organising team, Alan Brookes, said: “Under the leadership of the Rev Philip Thompson it was the objective of the Kirk Session to reach out into the community by inviting them to come,

”Our mission statement is - To Know Jesus Christ and to make him Known - and I believe this initiative simply accomplished what our church is striving to achieve.”
