Coleraine bus driver Wayne runner-up ‘Bus Driver of the Year’

Coleraine Ulsterbus Driver, Wayne Davidge was presented the runner-up ‘Bus Driver of the Year’ award at the Federation of Passenger Transport, Northern Ireland (FPTNI) Awards.

FPTNI is the trade body promoting the use of public transport and represents the leading bus and coach operators across Northern Ireland.

The ‘Translink Bus Driver of the Year’ recognises top performing drivers who deliver high standards of customer care and comfort together with high quality operational driving skills.

Sam Todd, Translink Service Delivery Manager said: “Congratulations to Wayne on his achievement and getting so far in the process. Wayne goes above and beyond his role and what is expected of him. He is a great Ambassador for Translink and Ulsterbus.”

Judges highlighted Wayne’s passenger courtesy with every customer on his local service, express and school routes.

Wayne was involved in an incident when driving a school bus with children on board. Wayne calmly took charge of the situation, reassured the children and led them to a safe place. The head of the school praised Wayne for his actions in dealing with a potentially difficult situation.
