Company shocked by death of Pomeroy man

A Dungannon concrete firm has paid tribute to a man who died in a tragic accident on Tuesday afternoon.

Paul Colhoun, from Pomeroy, was killed in the incident at Barrett Concrete’s premises at Eglish, outside Dungannon.

The Health and Safety Executive for Northern Ireland say they have begun an investigation into what happened.

Barrett’s Concrete said they had been numbed by the death of Mr Colhoun, who they described as a “true gentleman”.

“The management and staff at Barrett concrete have been numbed by the sudden passing of an esteemed colleague and life-long friend,” the company said in a statement to the BBC.

“Paul has been a valued colleague for a number of years and is fondly thought of as one of the family.

“Words cannot describe the sadness that has overcome this close-knit family business today.”

SDLP councillor Patsy Daly said it was a “terrible tragedy” that had “shocked the entire community”.
