DUP Mid Ulster MLA and Policing Board member, Ian McCrea has expressed his concern at the rise in drugs found in the Magherafelt district.
Congratulating police on recent seizures, Mr McCrea said: “I want to commend the Police in Magherafelt for their proactive approach of late in removing drugs from the streets of Magherafelt.
“Having discussed the issue of drugs throughout Mid Ulster on a number of occasions with the police I am delighted to see that the police have made a number of successful seizures.
“But it is cause for concern at the recent spike in drugs found; not to mention the handgun that was also found in Magherafelt. As a society we rely on the police to rid our streets of the scourge of drugs, but I must highlight the importance of the public’s role in coming forward to the police with information about whom these drug dealers are and where they are dealing to help them tackle what is a plague on our society.”
