Concert to aid children’s hospice

RHODA Barfoot is a talented violinist, singer and arranger from Magherafelt.

She grew up in a musical family, and as a child, learned to play violin and piano. Since then, Rhoda’s musical pursuits have taken her to many different parts of the world.

She has had the privilege of studying with virtuoso violinists, Robert Szreder in Maastricht and Jean Pierre Wallez in Geneva, and the pleasure of working with artists and orchestras including Stuart Townend, Keith and Kristyn Getty, the Urban Soul Orchestra, the New Irish Orchestra. the Geneva Symphony Orchestra and most recently, producer John Tonks. During her travels Rhoda has had the opportunity to build a collection of folk songs, and in the past months, she has been focusing on arranging and recording these beautiful traditional Nordic and Celtic songs for violin and voice.

The first of these will be released in the new year.

All are warmly invited to Rhoda’s Christmas Concert, in St Swithin’s Church, Magherafelt, tomorrow (Friday December 16) at 7.30pm, in aid of the NI Children’s Hospice.

Admission payable at the door is £8 with children admitted free of charge. Refreshments will be served afterwards.
