Singer/songwriter Jim McKee will see his work showcased on the big screen this week as feature film Songs For Amy is premiered in Dublin’s IMC cinema on Thursday 1st May.

The Cookstown born singer and well known artist penned four songs for the film which was shot on location in Galway and New York. It stars former Eastender Sean Maguire, rock band The Alabama 3, James Cosmo (Braveheart, Highlander) and Hollywood star Patrick Bergin and tells the story of a young musician who misses his wedding after a night on the tiles and then tries to woo back his fiancée by writing her a series of love songs.

McKee also features in a cameo role as Tom the busker in the movie which has already scooped awards at film festivals across the world, bringing Jim and the cast to places such as Cannes, Newport Beach in California, Glasgow Film Festival and many more.

“I was delighted to be approached by Fiona Graham of Sonny and Skye Productions to contribute to Songs For Amy,” says McKee. “Fiona felt my music was ideal for the storyline and we worked with the cast and production crew intensely over a two year period to bring the movie to life. It is fantastic that we are now at the stage of bringing the film to a wider audience following its premiere this week in Dublin.”

The Songs For Amy premiere is part of a busy year for McKee who plans to showcase his art and music in his native Cookstown at the Burnavon Theatre in the Autumn as well as record a brand new album.

Music from the film is available for download on iTunes and the songs featured are entitled ‘Soul Friend’ (from the album Just a Piece of) ‘Show Me The Love’, ‘Amy’ and ‘The Greatest Best Thing’ (from the album Goodness Comes From The Heart).
