Police in Cookstown are urging people to be wary of anyone calling at their homes asking for donations for a local school after reports of a bogus caller in town today [October 7].
PSNI Cookstown said it had received word of a male in his 20s calling at homes and asking for donations for school funds.
Reported to be carrying a lanyard and offering flyers, he has also asked people for their bank details.
“We have received a report from Cookstown centre regarding a bogus male caller, approximately mid 20s calling at homes requesting donations for a local school and school funds,” they said online.
“This male is asking for bank details. He is carrying an identity card on a lanyard and offering flyers.
“Please do not provide personal details to anyone this is a scam and we are warning about the dangers. If anyone has any information on who this male is please contact local police.”
