POLICE are reminding members of the public to be mindful of would be scammers.
This follows a report that a man in the Cookstown area received a cheque which was issued for work carried out by him.
The cheque turned out to be fraudulent. The man conducted the work after answering an advertisement for evaluation work. Luckily, he did not suffer any loss.
Members of the public are reminded never to give out personal details to anyone. If you are unsure of the person who has requested the details or feel that something is not right then you must ask for details to ascertain their identity.
Remember if an unknown person contacts you to offer you money for nothing and it sounds too good to be true, it usually is.
Anyone with information or anyone who believes they may have been a victim of fraud in similar circumstances is asked to contact their local police station on 0845 600 8000
