Disorderly at city War Memorial
A fine of £300 was imposed at Londonderry Magistrates Court on a man charged with desecrating the city’s War Memorial.
Imposing penalty, District Judge Peter King told Barry Diver (31) of Patrician Villas, Strabane, that the incident was “designed to cause maximum offence to one section of the community”.
Diver pleaded guilty to disorderly behaviour and resisting police on August 15.
Police sent to The Diamond found wreaths had been damaged and Diver began shouting loudly.
The District Judge said this was shared space and should be respected as such.
