A young Cookstown man was fined a total of £375 at East Tyrone Magistrates Court on Friday for three motoring offences.

A young Cookstown man was fined a total of £375 at East Tyrone Magistrates Court on Friday for three motoring offences.

Ben Bennett (21), of Castle Court, was also given seven penalty points for having no insurance, driving without supervision and failing to display ‘L’ plates.

The court heard the offences were detected by police at Church Street, Cookstown, on September 6 last.

A defence solicitor said the defendant had been taking part in a charity truck run and it was in those circumstances that the offences were committed.

He said the driver accompanying him had just got out of the vehicle and Bennett was driving the truck back to the garage.
