The PSNI helicopter was called into action in Cookstown on Sunday after reports that a four-year-old boy had disappeared.
The child, who was reported missing from the Dales area of town, sparked a search that included family, neighbours and police.
The boy was eventually found “safe and well”.
Police have since thanks the Dales and Beechway residents who helped with their search.
PSNI Cookstown said: “On Sunday evening a four year old child was reported missing in The Dales area of Cookstown.
“Cookstown LPT crews were on the ground within minutes of the call being received and a search plan was quickly implemented. “LPT officers were joined by officers from a specialist police unit with thermal imaging equipment and the police helicopter in the search for the boy.
“A large number of local residents also turned out to assist police and thankfully the child was located safe and well a short time later.”
