Patrick Gallagher (48), of Ranaghan Road, was fined £100 with a £15 offender levy and given four penalty points for a incident on August 12 last. Prosecuting counsel said at approximately 9.45am the defendant’s vehicle was detected travelling at 41mph at Tobermore Road, Desertmartin, 11mph over the limit. The lawyer said the offence was picked up by a mobile speed detection unit.

A defence lawyer said the defendant had made a mistake filling in the form and thought he had accepted the fixed penalty.
