AN ARDBOE woman has been fined £450 after she was caught without insurance.
Rebecca Monaghan, 21, from Westclare Court, was stopped on Dungannon Road in Coalisland in the early hours of January 10 and discovered to have no insurance documents in place.
The defendant argued that she did have coverage but it transpired that the policy had been cancelled.
Mr Jason McLernon told the court that his client had been a named driver on her mother’s policy which was cancelled when she was unable to find proof of no claims bonuses.
He also stated that the defendant had now perfected insurance and was paying for it herself.
Deputy District Judge John Rice handed down a fine of £450 and six penalty points. An offender’s levy of £15 was also imposed.
A second charge of fraudulent use of insurance was withdrawn by the PPS.
