PSNI appeal after robbery

Detectives in Londonderry have revealed that they are investigating an armed robbery at a shop in the Park Avenue area of the city.

According to police, the robbery took place on the evening of Saturday, February 14.

Appealing for information about the incident or any suspicious activity in the area at the time of the offence being carried out, Detective Inspector David McQuade said: “Police received a report that two males, one armed with a knife, entered the shop at around 9.30pm and threatened a female staff member.

“A small sum of cash was handed over and the males left the shop on foot.

“Both males were reported to have had their faces covered with blue plastic bags and one wore a burgundy coloured coat whilst the other wore a black coloured top.”

According to the Detective Inspector, the staff member was unhurt, but was left badly shaken following the robbery.

“I would appeal to anyone who witnessed the incident or who has any information to contact CID at Strand Road on 101,” he said.
