Three men and a boy facing assault and weapons charges

Appearing before East Tyrone Magistrate’s Court were Johnathan McDonagh, 18, and Edward Gerald McDonagh, 41, both of The Glen, Patrick Charles McDonagh, 20, of Moor Road in Clonoe, and a youth who cannot be identified for legal reasons.

All are charged with affray, disorderly behaviour and threats to kill at Stewartstown Road on September 28th.

Johnathan McDonagh is also charged with two counts of possession of offensive weapons, namely a shovel, a horse whip and two metal bars, on the same date with intent to commit grevious bodily harm.

He is also accused of dangerous driving at Stewartstown Road on October 15th.

Edward Gerald McDonagh is additionally alleged to have committed grievous bodily harm with intent to a woman and assaulted a second woman.

He is further charged with possession of two iron bars with intent to commit GBH as well as threatening to destroy a static mobile home belonging to the same woman on September 28th.

Patrick McDonagh is also accused of assaulting a woman, occasioning actual bodily harm, possession of two iron bars with intent to commit ABH as well as threatening to destroy a static mobile home belonging to the same woman.

Additionally, the youth defendant is alleged to have assaulted a third woman, occasioning actual bodily harm, and with intimidation of a witness. He is also accused of possession of a shovel and horse whip with intent to commit GBH as well as threatening to destroy a caravan.

A police costable told the court that he believed that he could connect the defendants to the charges.

Mr Karl Mallon, appearing on behalf of the youth, made an application to vary bail terms but it was dismissed due to inadequate notice given to the PPS.

He then released the four defendants on £250 bail and adjourned the case until November 16th for bail variation applications.
