Tyrone woman convicted of benefit fraud

A 46-year-old Tyrone woman was handed a criminal conviction on Thursday (October 6), for claiming benefits she was not entitled to.

The court heard how Frances Dunnion from of Glebe Gardens, Sion Mills, claimed Jobseekers Allowance and Income Support totalling £6,001 while failing to declare employment.

She was fined £500 and ordered to pay an offender’s levy of £15 at Strabane Magistrates Court.

Ms Dunnion must also repay any outstanding money wrongfully obtained to the Department for Communities.
