Video footage has emerged of two teenage girls “fighting with police” during a day-time incident in the streets of Magherafelt.
The film starts with two officers trying to contain one female, while the other tries to attack and then kick them.
A further two officers intervene, while the person shooting the footage can be heard laughing throughout.
Police can also be heard to call out “CS gas” while the young women are restrained on the ground.
One of them lost her shoe in the struggle, which an officer put back on her foot before she was taken away in handcuffs.
The other teenager can then be heard singing ‘hey ho, hey ho’ but we have removed this part of the footage, so as not to identify anyone.
It is understood a juvenile and 18-year-old female were charged with disorderly behaviour, assault on police and also resisting arrest.
Both are due in court in November.
Chief Inspector Jane Humphries said: “Officers affecting an arrest in The Diamond area of Magherafelt on Sunday, October 11th, were met with violence and resistance and as such appropriate restraint tactics were deployed.
“If anyone has a complaint to make contact PONI.”
