A Coleraine woman pulled hair from the head of a former friend she has 'history' with during an encounter outside a Portstewart pub.

Lyndsey Davis (20), of Quickthorn Place, appeared at Coleraine Magistrates Court last Thursday and admitted charges of common assault and also damaging a necklace belonging to the woman.

A prosecutor said the injured party said she was assaulted outside the Anchor Bar and the court was told there was a “history” going back to school days and the two women do not get along. The prosecutor said the injured woman said Davis pulled her hair and struck her, pulling some of her hair out causing her to be physically sick and a necklace was broken.

Davis admitted to police there had been a scuffle and said both parties were pulling each other other’s hair and accepted the two did not get on.

Defence barrister Francis Rafferty said the women had been friends at one stage but had fallen out.

He said Davis had expressed remorse “and will do her level best to avoid such scenarios again”.

District Judge Chris Holmes bound the defendant over on the sum of £500 to keep the peace for two years and ordered her to pay £90 compensation for the broken necklace.
