Crumlin centre work to begin by March

Anne Marie Logue said that she was delighted that the multi million pound recreational capital scheme will mean more jobs and investment to the area.

“I am delighted to announce that the Crumlin multi million recreational capital scheme is proceeding on schedule on the timeline agreed by Council,” she said.

“I am pleased that council have recently announced at a council development and leisure meeting that every opportunity has been taken to streamline the plan to onsite process.

“Council are hopeful that work will take place on site within the next six months.

“This recreational facility represents a major improvement to the community sports infrastructure in Crumlin and the Antrim Borough. The 
proposed facilities will be accessible by the entire community.”

She said that extra 
GROW funding of £250,000 has also been successfully applied for by Antrim Borough Council that will provide much needed community rooms within the designed project.

“Short term benefits of the project will see much needed employment 
during the construction phase and will potentially create a number of new jobs in sport and encourage young people to consider employment in sport as a career choice,” she said.

“Long term benefits will provide locally available indoor and outdoor facilities. Reduce the need for sports clubs to travel outside 
Crumlin. Increase participation in community groups and sports clubs, which 
will improve the health and well-being of our population. Reduce pressure on grass pitches and indoor halls in Antrim.

“As well as new pitches and a third generation all weather pitch the facility will provide state of the art indoor sports, dance and gym facilities.”
