D-Day landings: Cookstown Standard Bearer at commemoration event
A total of £28,000 has been raised through the Cookstown Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal.
This magnificent sum is an increase of just under two per cent on the 2012/13 appeal.
Meanwhile, the vice-chairman of Cookstown and National Standard Bearer Norman Espie also had the privilege of taking part in the main commemorations in Normandy during the 70th anniversary of the D-Day landings.
He attended ceremonies in Bayeux Cathedral and at the Commonwealth War Graves cemetery in the presence of HM The Queen, HRH Prince Philip and other dignitaries.
