Mr Lex Hayes said that the decision that Glengormley High should continue to stand alone as an 11 - 19 school was a real boost.

He commented: “The parents, governors and staff warmly welcome the final NEELB plan. The amalgamation of the other two schools allows our school to continue to improve and develop our service. It gives our parents the security that we can continue with our staffing and curriculum as we have developed it and that suits the needs of the pupils. The fact that we can continue to develop our provision for sixth form is another boost.”

He added: “The only problem that we are having is with the greater number of pupils joining the school at all levels. The Board of Governors has requested a cap on the numbers in year groups and the Department of Education have told us that the Area Plan has delayed any negotiations on the matter but this will hopefully be clarified soon.”
