Dobson praises Waringstown vintage charity event

The annual event in aid of Kidney Research attracts large crowds, as well as a wealth of vintage cars, motorbikes and tractors.

Attending the event, Mrs Dobson said:
“Well done to everyone who has helped to organise this year’s cavalcade – from the marshals to the collectors to the PSNI, it was a job well done!

“I’m always overwhelmed by the sheer generosity of people towards the amazing and important work of Kidney Research. We got a fantastic evening’s weather and everyone was so generous to this worthy charity.”

Mrs Dobson’s son, Mark, received a kidney transplant at the age of fifteen, which - she has noted - is a huge reason for her unwavering admiration for the work of Kidney Research. Mark attended the Vintage Cavalcade with his mother on Friday, and took the opportunity to speak with others who had received transplants.

“It was great to see so many friends and neighbours lining the route through the village and also for Mark to chat to fellow kidney recipients, which really does bring why continuing to support transplant charities is so vitally important,” the MLA commented.

“Well done once again to Mr Walter Kerr, the Life President of the Northern Ireland Kidney Research Fund, for all that he does to help others.”
