Donemana Women's Institute notes

The president welcomed the members back after the summer holiday, to the September meeting.

Evva Kennedy paid tribute to Eileen Shannon who had passed away in July. Eileen was a long time and popular member of the institute and held office on many occasions. Evva expressed sympathy to her family. The members observed a minutes silence in Eileens memory.

The speaker for the evening, Mr Johnny Dooker was welcomed and gave a most interesting talk on the history of Donemana and district. Annie Bryson expressed thanks to the speaker and gave him a token of appreciation which he very kindly returned to institute funds.

The competition winners for the Oldest Coin were Evva Kennedy, 2nd Maureen Kennedy and 3rd Pat O’Neill. The raffle winner was Margaret O’Neill.

Donemana Women’s Institute had their AGM at the October meeting.

Mrs Ethel Patterson, Federation Chairperson, conducted the election of the office bearers with Jill McCorkell and Karen Wray acting as tellers.Angela Hamilton was re-elected as President, Annie Bryson, Vice President, Evva Kennedy correspondent secretary and Margaret Rogers minutes secretary with Maureen Kennedy treasurer. The competition ‘An Article for the Magazine’ was won by Matha O’Neill with Evva Kennedy second and Angela Hamilton third.

The raffle was won by Annie Bryson.
