Doran calls for more help to home buyers
Lisburn South NI21 representative Andrew Doran has called on the government to help local home buyers.
Mr Doran said, “Figures detailing the negative equity crisis in NI once more highlight Government failings. To date the Government has failed to address this issue.
“The figures show 41% of Northern Irish mortgage borrowers since 2005 owe more than their home was worth in the last quarter of 2013.
“Northern Ireland has the highest rate for negative equity in the UK. Worse news for some homeowners is that for the next decade they could have property that is worth less than their mortgage.”
