DRD officials involved in Coalisland parking ‘discussion’

Waiting restrictions, loading facilities and disabled parking for Coalisland are under discussion between officials from the Department of Regional Development (DRD) and local elected representatives.

Transport Minister, Danny Kennedy, confirmed discussions were at an informal stage and not part of a public consultation exercise and, as such, no formal objections have been raised.

Maurice Morrow, DUP MLA, had asked the Minister to “outline the objections raised by

councillors to Roads Service in relation to introducing parking regulations and attendants in Coalisland”.

Maurice Morrow called for action over how parking is enforced across Northern Ireland, claiming there was a “big disparity” in the number of parking fines issued from one town to another. The DUP MLA was speaking after it emerged that no parking tickets were issued in Coalisland last year.
