DUP councillor condemns Tamlaght O’Crilly shooting in which children escaped injured

MAGHERAFELT DUP Councillor Thomas Catherwood has strongly condemned an incident in which a shot was fired at a house near Tamlaght O’Crilly leaving five people, including two children, shaken.

A shot was fired through the kitchen window of the house on the Drumlane Road shortly after 11pm on Wednesday night.

A man, two women and two children were in the house at the time but were not injured.

Mr Catherwood said it was “very unusual” for an incident like this to happen in such a quiet area.

“I don’t know what the motive was but it has to be condemned,” he said.

He said he was glad no one had been injured.

Police say a motive has not yet been established.
