BEAT the January blues and keep the Christmas spirit going this winter by heading to the Stewartstown’s panto Alice in Wonderland at the Burnavon Theatre.
Now in it’s thirteenth year the Stewartstown Pantomime extends to you an invite to a theatrical adventure unlike any other. Join Alice as she explores the magic and mystery of Wonderland – a land where left is right, where down is up and up is a very long way around.
With talking trees, whizzing white rabbits, a delightful Dame and tea parties as mad as the very hatter himself you’ll be grinning as wide as a Cheshire cat. The colourful array of fantastical characters will come alive before your very eyes and a mixture of song, dance and riddling rhyme will provide some magical entertainment this new year.
Holly Sloan who plays Alice, followed in the footsteps of her father, getting involved in the Stewartstown Amateur Dramatics Society since she was six years old.
She said: “It’s so fun there’s nothing quite like it in this area and I wouldn’t dream of not coming back!
“This year’s production is going great, everything is coming along really well and it’s great fun. My favourite part of this year’s panto has to be The Mad Hatter’s Tea Party which is great fun to do, it’s so lively and colourful I really look forward to it every Tuesday and Saturday- closely followed by the Cheshire cat scene of course!”
John Glendinning is playing the role of unlucky in love Dame and mother of Alice.
“I’ve been in the Panto from the very beginning in 1999 and keep coming back because I enjoy it so much,” he said.
“It’s a great thing to be involved with and it passes the time on those long, cold winter nights, there definitely aren’t too many blue faces around Stewartstown on a Tuesday or Saturday!”
He added: “I enjoy singing and really like my song this year. I’m enjoying all the scenes, it’s great craic and everyone is good to work with, we’ve a great wee team.”
Come and watch Holly and John in this year’s production and see if Alice makes it out of Wonderland in one piece to attend Princess Ruby and Prince Jack’s wedding and enjoy the adventure along the way.
