FEARS are growing for a young woman orginally from Dungannon who has gone missing in Ibiza.

The family of Michaella McCollum Connolly, who was working at a popular nightspot in the San Antonio holiday resort are growing increasingly concerned about her whereabouts as she has not been in contact in 11 days.

The dancer, who is in her early 20’s, had been living on Crumlin Road in Belfast before setting off on her own in June to work over the summer in Ibiza.

Michaella had been working as a waitress in Thompsons Garage in Belfast before going to Ibiza.

Michaella’s family are believed to be from the Dungannon area and have started an appeal on Facebook following her disappearance.

Her family have said her phone is turned off and she has not been on Facebook recently.

Michaella’s sister Samantha sent out the appeal on Facebook on Tuesday saying it was unlike her sister not to be in contact every few days and that ‘the proper authorities’ had been told and were helping to determine her whereabouts.

The statement said: “Michaella comes from a very close and loving family and we are all extremely worried and concerned that she hasn’t been in contact and that we cannot contact her,”

Samantha also said that there were unconfirmed reports that Michaella or Kayla as she is known in the entertainment business may have been in Madrid or Barcelona.

One of Michaella’s friends, Sophia Turner (20), from Carrickfergus, Co Antrim, said: “She’s a lovely girl, very fun-loving and independent. I just hope she’s all right. She was so excited about going to Ibiza but I said to her to make sure and keep herself safe. It’s not something that I think I would do on my own.”
