Five-year ban for ‘absolutely appaling’ drink driving

A 30-year-old woman who drove with excess alcohol in breath, at four times the legal limit, has been handed a five-year disqualification from driving and been placed on probation for two years.

Appearing at Limavady Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, October 23, 2013, was Lynne Hutton, of Derryork Road, Limavady.

The court heard that Hutton was seen driving along Edenmore Road at 8.20pm on August 31 in an erratic manner, weaving from one side of the road to the other. She was stopped and spoken to by police.

The court also heard her disabled father and seven-year-old daughter were in the vehicle. Hutton said she’d taken two glasses of wine with dinner.

A subsequent reading revealed a reading of 150mgs in breath.

District Judge Liam McNally said that the thought of Hutton driving around Limavady with a reading of 150 was “absolutely appalling”.
