Floating jetty damaged on Lough Fea outside Cookstown

A floating jetty allowing disabled access to fishing boats has been damaged on Lough Fea in the Sperrin Mountains.

It is believed recent storms caused the damage, although no one from Mid Ulster District Council was available for immediate comment.

The fishing amenities, which received £75,000 investment from the NI Rural Development Programme, also includes concrete fishing stands, a secure store to house fishing boats and a new concrete slipway.

They were opened by Agriculture and Rural Development Minister Michelle O’Neill in 2013 in the hope of attracting visitors.

The project was led by Cookstown District Council working with the angling club, and statutory bodies such as NI Water.

The photographs were taken by Calvin Harlow from Draperstown.
