A former director of the Mid Ulster Mail, Richard Henry (Ricky) Glasgow, has died. He was 77.

Mr Glasgow, of Loy Street, Cookstown, was a grandson of Henry L Glasgow who along with his brother, John, launched the newspaper in 1891.

His father, Dr Jack Glasgow, was a GP in the Tyrone town for many years.

Ricky Glasgow joined the Mid Ulster Mail after leaving school and retired as a director in November 1990 when it was purchased by Morton Newspapers Ltd, Craigavon.

His son, Andrew, told the Mail that “he will be greatly missed by the family” and his many friends in the Cookstown area.

Mr Glasgow is survived by Andrew and daughter, Melissa, and six grand children. Many tributes have been paid to him.
