YOUNG people in the Coalisland area will be able to enjoy new look facilities at their youth club thanks to funding from the Department of Social Development (DSD).
Nelson McCausland, DSD Minister, announced the financial boost of £2,000 for the Ogras Youth Centre, which is based in the town’s Parochial Centre.
The funding will be used to employ consultants to complete a feasibility study for the refurbishment of the youth centre.
Ogras supports young people throughout the local area by providing activities and courses to help them prepare for adulthood.
The centre is also used widely by the travelling community within Coalisland Neighbourhood Renewal Area.
The works will involve internal refurbishment including the ‘chill out area’ and the minor sports hall.
Mr McCausland said: “This project will provide real and significant benefits to young people in the Coalisland Neighbourhood Renewal Area.
“The Neighbourhood Renewal process aims to involve everyone in the area. Too frequently young people and others can be left out of the process or may have little interest in becoming involved. Work of this nature helps to stabilise communities.”
