A new multi-purpose gym will be built at Rainey Endowed school in Magherafelt, as part of the second phase of a capital works project.
Mid-Ulster MLA Sandra Overend, said she welcomed the announcement that the Minister for Education will provide the Rainey Endowed school with additional funding through the School Enhancement Programme.
“I am delighted with the news that the Education Minister has seen fit to provide funding,” she said.
“I have been lobbying the Minister regarding the plans which the Rainey have for school development and improvement, and was disappointed when the initial budget for this years’ projects stopped short of the Rainey at the beginning of this financial year. I am very pleased to see that the Minister has decided to provide additional funding for investment in the school’s future.
“This funding will allow the school to develop and improve their facilities, so that the student body has a better learning environment and experience. This is an important step in the continued development of the Rainey, and is a very welcome announcement.”
