Funeral held for man killed in Knockloughrim quarry accident

The funeral service for 62-year-old Victor Nicholl, who died in an industrial accident has been held on Monday.

Mr Nicholl, from Kilrea, had been working at FP McCann’s quarry at Drumard Road near Gulladuff when the accident happened on Friday.

His funeral was held at 2.30pm in Saint Patrick’s Church of Ireland in Kilrea.

Mr Nicholl has been described as “a hard-working man” who had been working with FP McCann for the past 19 years.

He was married and came from the Fallahogy district outside Kilrea.

It has been reported that Mr Nicholl had been driving a 60-tonne dumper truck shortly before the accident.

The Health and Safety Executive is carrying out an investigation to establish the circumstances of his death.
