Galbally man admits drink driving offence

A Galbally man has pleaded guilty to the offence of driving with excess alcohol in breath at East Tyrone Magistrates Court.

James Andrew Lockhart, 39, of Upper Cranlome Road, Galbally admitted the charge in relation to an incident on March 24, this year.

A court heard how police were on mobile patrol at around 2am and came across Mr Lockhart who was in the drivers seat of a car on Irish Street.

Police spoke to the defendant whose eyes were glazed and his breath smelt of alcohol. Police asked Mr Lockhart to pull up and park into a parking bay out of the road were they conducted a breath test which the defendant failed, he was arrested and cautioned for the offence.

A further breath test revealed a reading of 55mg/100ml of breath, 20 over the legal limit. He was fined £165 for the offence and disqualified for 12 months.
