'Give up' with Moyle Council says DUP's Robert McIlroy

A SENIOR DUP representative on nationalist-controlled Moyle District Council last night (Monday) said people in Bushmills should 'give up' when it comes to getting help from Sheskburn House in Ballycastle.

Councillor Robert McIlroy reacted with fury after Moyle Council overturned a previous decision to allow the Woodvale Toilet block in Bushmills to be kept for community use.

Last night the Council changed their minds and agreed to sell the block and only one councillor from the Causeway area - Independent Price McConaghy - backed the proposal, saying there was no need for two toilet blocks in Bushmills.

But Councillor McIlroy - the Council Vice-Chairperson - said: "I would say to the people of Bushmills give up, don't try and do some good for your own area because you are getting no help from this Council."

Causeway Ulster Unionist, Willie Graham, said: "Moyle District Council has put the nail in the coffin for the Causeway (area)."

Councillor McConaghy said there are more important priorities in Bushmills than toilets.
