Grammar head congratulates pupils on success
Speaking at the recent prize giving night, Mr Wylie – who succeeded former principal John Wilson last year – said: “As Principal, I have had the pleasure this evening of outlining all of our successes.
“But over the past year yet I didn’t plan a single lesson, teach a single class, assess a single piece of work, write a single report, lead a single extra-curricular activity or organise a single trip. You, the teaching staff, did and I thank you for all of your efforts in enabling our pupils to fulfil their promise.

“I didn’t encourage my child to study, support them through difficult examination periods, help them with homework, ferry them backwards and forwards from school or attend parent-teacher meetings and other school events. You, the parents, did and I acknowledge the significant part that you have played in your child’s education. You have every right to be proud, as are we, of their achievements.”
At A level, 60 per cent of entries were awarded either an A*, A or B grade, with 14 students achieving three A grades or better.
Meanwhile, almost one fifth of all GCSE entries were awarded an A* and 48 per cent of entries were either an A* or an A grade.
