Hub defibrillator '˜used' for first time after man suffers heart attack at Cookstown bookies

Not even a month after it was installed, the new defibrillator at Cookstown's Hub was despatched for the first time today (Wednesday) after a man suffered a heart attack in Cookstown.

The gentleman was at a bookies on James Street when he became unwell.

After going to a local chemist to find help, it is understood a member of staff was told there was a defibrillator at the Hub.

An ambulance had arrived by the time the defib was brought to his aid, but a member of staff at William Hill said it was great that the life-saving technology was so close to hand.

The Hub’s Carol Doey, also said she was “very happy” it was available in such a situation.
