POLICE in Magherafelt are urging those involved in hunting to ensure they have permission before hunting on land, following a number of complaints from local farmers.
Local farmers have expressed concern over trespassing on their lands and the possible outcome of these actions such as spread of disease and criminal damage.
A police spokesperson said: “Permission must be sought from the landowner before any hunting activity can take place. When we receive a report of unauthorised hunting we carry out enquiries and evidence of hunting without proper permission can have bearing and influence on an individual’s suitability to hold a firearms certificate. Police can also take action if a criminal offence has occurred.”
Anyone who has concerns about unauthorised hunting should contact their local police station on 0845 600 8000.
