TO help celebrate 125 years of Desertmartin Primary School, all former pupils and their families were invited to an informal, fun evening in the Bridewell, Magherafelt, on Friday, November 22.
In December this year the school, in its present location, will have been serving the families in the village and surrounding area for over a century.
Earlier this year, the school secured a National Lottery Grant in conjunction with Londonderry UK City of Culture 2013, which was used by the children to complete a project to mark this landmark year.
The project involved the making of a short film, which depicts how the school has changed over 125 years, and also to create a display of memorabilia that conveys life and times during the building’s existence.
A media expert provided and taught the children how to use filming equipment, during the making of the film, entitled ‘The School I Love So Well.’
