Jimmy Cricket to play home gig in Cookstown

HE’S the Irish comedian who has a funny hat, wears wellies on the wrong feet and regularly gets a letter from Mammy - and s back in Cookstown.

Jimmy Cricket will return to the the Burnavon, Cookstown next month for a special show.

Best-known for his catchphrases including ‘come closer!’ and ‘there’s more!’, Jimmy says he is delighted that he will play at the Burnavon on the 18th April.

“I began my career as a cinema spool boy when I was a lad,” he said.

“Then one night the projector stuck and I was pushed out front to talk to the audience while it was repaired. I told a few jokes and I’ve been telling them ever since.”

Nostalgia with a capital ‘N’ will join Jimmy in Cookstown where Downtown radio’s George Jones will lead show group ‘Clubsound’ into the spotlight.

Today Clubsound includes Eurovision songwriter Barry Woods, Alan McCartney, Jimmy Black and Davy McKnight.

Who can forget their hilarious skit called Shankill Airways, typical of their madcap musical humour that keeps them in demand.

Jimmy will appear with Clubsound on Thursday 18th April in the Burnavon, Cookstown.
